Metals Prices is a Raycast extension for precious-metal prices per gram: gold, silver, platinum and palladium, with purity selection, historical averages and a choice of display currency. It started as Gold Price. I designed and built it in TypeScript and published it on the Raycast Store.

Metals Prices is a Raycast extension for precious-metal prices per gram, with purity selection, historical averages and a choice of display currency. It started as Gold Price and is now published on the Raycast Store.
My role
My own project. I designed and built the extension in TypeScript and published it on the Raycast Store.
What shipped
- Gold, silver, platinum and palladium prices per gram, with purity selection.
- Daily price change and historical averages across 1, 3, 6 and 12 months.
- Display-currency selection, with Saudi riyals as the default.
- Cached results and on-demand history to reduce API requests.
- A keyboard-driven interface that remembers the last metal and purity selected.
- Quota-friendly caching to stay within the free metals.dev API tier.
ConstraintIt has to stay within the free metals.dev API tier, so results are cached.
Worth a closer look
To reduce API use, I cache price data and fetch longer historical periods only when requested. The interface shows the request cost before loading an average.
